Heat (2024) Group exhibition
Heat presents a narrative of attachment across three works. The series examines the ways bonds are established in childhood, how these patterns extend into relationships, and the manner in which the mind becomes shaped by them. It considers the intensity and difficulty of breaking cycles and forging new pathways, before turning toward healing, reflection, and an enduring commitment to growth.
‘The body keeps a score’
When you were 7 you already knew what they wanted.
You crossed your legs and sat up straight,
you watched yourself from third person.
Small, palatable, digestible, bite-sized.
But not savoured.
‘Patterns are the minds safety’
The longer you bathe in lukewarm, more it seeps into your bones.
Manipulated reality morphs into;
seemly bearable, comfortable,
preferable against my own
touch.
‘My skin keeps me warm’
It's not enough.
You repeat it over, and over.
It starts to mean something.
It starts to hold weight.
And for the first time. you will know;
I am okay.
