Beanie Bear Post ~September

$17.00

Beanie Bear Post is a monthly snail mail club centred around art, nature, and magic. Each month, you’ll receive a thoughtfully curated envelope filled with artwork, information, and interactive activities, all inspired by what I’ve been exploring lately.

This project came from my love of nature and handmade art. After spending more time reconnecting with the natural world and researching plants, folklore, and magical themes, I felt really inspired to bring that into my art practice. I also wanted to create something that captures a sense of curiosity, nostalgia, and childhood wonder. There’s something really special about receiving physical mail, and this is my way of sharing that feeling with you.

If you’re new to snail mail clubs, think of it as a bundle of goodies arriving in your letterbox each month, something to open slowly, keep, and revisit.

September theme: Mangrove Adventures

I visited the Wynnum Mangrove Boardwalk and was completely inspired by all the life thriving there. From tiny creatures crawling through the mud to birds tucked away in the treetops, everywhere I looked seemed to hold something new to discover.

I decided to come back with my camera and capture some of what I found, creating the references for this month’s Mail Club. Now, little fragments of my adventure have been packed into one small envelope and sent your way.

Inside, you’ll find a blend of education, illustration and fun activities designed to encourage you to slow down, get curious and explore the nature around you. You’ll learn about mangroves, discover some of the creatures that call them home, and even have the chance to head out on your own little outdoor adventure and record what you find.

All of the illustrations and artwork in this month’s Mail Club were created from my own photographs and observations from the mangroves. I wanted each piece to feel personal, almost like taking a little piece of my adventure home with you.

I’ve also opted for recycled and plant based papers throughout the collection. I feel like this adds an extra special detail and really encapsulates what I want this Mail Club to express. It felt important to use materials that connect back to the natural environment that inspired this month’s adventure.

What you’ll receive:

• A 4 × 6 original artwork~ A flowy, dreamy little artwork inspired by the tiny details I noticed during my visit, from reflections of leaves shimmering across the water to the textures of moss, bark and mud. Each one is different and made just for you. I love that you get to receive an original piece of artwork, all included in the $15 Mail Club price.

• A letter all about mangroves~ Filled with fascinating facts, my own observations from exploring the boardwalk, and illustrations of what I saw. Printed on paper made from sugarcane by products.

• A Nature Log activity~ Take it with you on your own outdoor adventure! Use it to draw and record the plants and creatures you discover along the way. Printed on recycled paper.

• Mangrove colouring page~ Spot the creatures I came across during my adventure, including the Grey Shrike thrush (Colluricincla harmonica), Pacific Blue Eye (Pseudomugil signifer) and White faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae). A little moment to slow down and get creative, printed on paper made from sugarcane by products.

• 2 creature cards~ Featuring two different crabs that I spotted during my adventure: the Purple Climber Crab (Metopograpsus frontalis) and Compressed Fiddler Crab (Tubuca coarctata), with details about their habitat, distribution, size and more.

• A recycled paper envelope~ made with pineapple by product

• An shimmery wax seal

I hope this month’s Mail Club gives you a little reason to slow down, look a little closer and notice the incredible life hiding all around us.
